On May 2nd 2016 the Sex Offender Compliance Division of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office initiated an investigation into a registered sex offender, Andrew James Pepples.
The Investigation revealed that Pepples moved from his registered address in Jacob in early February and failed to notify the Sheriff’s Office of his whereabouts. Florida statute requires that sexual offenders and predators notify their local Sheriff’s Office of any change of address within 48 hours.
During the course of the investigation leads were developed and Pepples was tracked to an address on the west end of Marianna. Surveillance was conducted over a period of several days, and with the assistance of the Marianna Police Department, he was taken into custody without incident just after midnight on 7-22-16.
Sheriff Lou Roberts and the Sex Offender Compliance Division of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office are committed to insuring the safety of the citizens of our county through compliance and enforcement efforts as it pertains to sexual offenders and predators.
Jackson County currently has 170 registered sex offenders, 13 of which are classified as predators. A classification of predator is usually reserved for either repeat offenders, those involved in violent sexual crimes, or where the victims were below a certain age.
