On 01-23-12 at approximately 8:08 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call from a concerned friend of a female that was believed to be a victim of domestic assault.
While the friend was on the phone with the victim she overheard her plead with her husband to relinquish a handgun he was brandishing, but he would not. The victim also told her friend that the husband had pointed the gun at her head and forced her into a bedroom. The victim retreated to the bedroom and locked herself inside.
When responding Deputies arrived they announced themselves as being Law Enforcement loudly and repeatedly, while attempting to get Mr. Milton to the door. When he did open the door he met the Deputies still brandishing the pistol.
After retreating to safety, the Deputies made contact with the female victim inside and assisted her in escaping through a bedroom window. After 31 minutes Mr. Milton was persuaded to surrender. After exiting the residence he was taken into custody on the front porch. The gun, along with nine other loaded guns, was seized.
Robert Milton was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance, charged with 2 Cts of Aggravated Assault with a Firearm on a Law Enforcement Officer, Aggravated Domestic Assault with a Firearm, and False Imprisonment.
