Man Charged with Torture, Willful Abuse of a Child Under 18 years

On 02/04/02016 the Dothan Police Department Juvenile Investigations Division was contacted by a local school in reference to an allegation of child abuse. Juvenile Investigators began investigating the allegation.
The Alabama Department of Human Resources was notified and began working with Investigators as protocol to ensure the safety of the child. The victim in this case, a six year old girl, alleged that she was forced to wash her mouth out numerous times with bleach. The victim in this case received medical treatment at a local hospital for her injuries which were consistent with the allegations.
A search warrant was executed at the suspect’s residence where several items were seized as possible evidence. Investigators have arrested and charged 33 year old Jason Courtney
Thompson, of East Stough Street, with Torture, Willful Abuse of a Child Under 18 years of age. Bond has been set at $150,000.00. The victim has been placed in a safe location and will be interviewed at he Child Advocacy Center. The investigation is ongoing and more charges could be pending.
