Man Lies Down in Front of Responding Fire Engine

Samson, AL: This morning, 34 Central dispatched Samson Volunteer Fire Department to a residence on South Line Street. Samson Fire Engine 35 was enroute to the scene when they came across the 300th block of South Line Street to a man laying in the middle of the street. The subject finally moved out of the fire truck's way. Samson Engine 35 contacted Samson Police Asst. Chief Darrell Smith over the radio and advised him the situation. Officer Smith arrived on scene and was hit in the face by the subject. Samson Reserve Officer immediately called for 10-48 (Back-Up) over the radio. 


 


34 Cebtral immediately notified the Geneva County Sheriff's Deputies on call to assist. Reserve Officer Carter did advise on the radio that an officer had been assaulted. After several firefighters and police officers held the subject down, they finally were able to cuff the subject at the ankles and wrists. The subject was transported to the Geneva County Jail. The fire call that Samson responded to was taken care of during the subject being disorderly.
