A 1999 GMC pickup was traveling North on U.S. 29 in the inside lane. A 2012 Dodge Voyager was traveling South on U.S. 29 in the inside lane. For unknown reasons, the GMC veered to the left and entered the center grassy median. The GMC then became airborne and entered the path of the Dodge. The front of the Voyager struck the right front of the GMC. The GMC spun counter clockwise and came to a final rest facing South in the center of the southbound lanes of U.S. 29. The Dodge was pushed to the West shoulder of U.S. 29. The Voyager came to a final rest facing West on the West shoulder of U.S. 29. The driver of the GMC, David Hicks, 17, of Pensacola, Florida was seriously injured in the crash. Alcohol is believed to have been a factor, according to Florida Highway Patrol Troopers.
