Marianna Man Arrested for Child Neglect

On August 18th, 2014 at approximately 1:58pm officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to Pebble Hill Estates in reference to the report of a small female child walking in the roadway, not accompanied by an adult. The child was found to be only two years old. Upon officers arrival it was learned that nearby neighbors reported the child to be walking along the roadway in front of a residence located on Brightwell Avenue, which is located inside the Pebble Hill Estates.
Staff with Pebble Hill Estates acted quickly and was able to remove the child from the roadway until law enforcement arrived. The child’s parents were unable to be located therefore the child was taken into the care of law enforcement until investigators from the Department of Children and Families responded to the scene. While officers were awaiting the arrival of DCF, the father of the child, Martin Vu, arrived at the Pebble Hill Estates office looking for the child. Officers then took Martin Vu into custody and charged him with Child Neglect. Martin Vu was watching the children while the mother of the child was at work.
The child was found to be in good health. Upon the conclusion of the investigation the child was released to her mother. Martin Vu was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
