On 4-6-16 at approximately 6:00 p.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office’s Sex Offender Compliance Division and the Jackson County Drug Task Force took Michael Rabon into custody in a wooded area off of Hwy 73 South near Hasty Pond Rd.
Rabon is a registered sex offender but has failed to re-register, as required by law, since November of 2014. He claimed to be working out of state, but investigative efforts proved otherwise. He also had an outstanding warrant for Failure to Pay Child Support that was issued in 2014.
Rabon was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
The purpose of the address registration obligation for sex offenders is to keep both Law Enforcement and the public abreast of the whereabouts of offenders in our area. By failing to register or providing false or incomplete address information, offenders attempt to circumvent the system, which defeats the purpose.
The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office strives to maintain a safe living environment for the citizens of our county through vigilant accountability and enforcement.
