Marianna Man Arrested for Interference with Child Custody

On Saturday July, 5th,2014, Deputies with the Jackson County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to the Kendall Lanes Bowling Alley in Marianna, Fl in reference to a Missing Juvenile complaint. Upon arrival, it was reported to responding Deputies that the juvenile, a 15 year old female, had ran away from a fireworks display in neighboring Gadsden County and was present at the bowling alley with an adult male, identified as Joseph Mejia. Upon arrival, Deputies made contact with Mejia and the juvenile. During the course of the investigation, it was discovered that Mejia had taken the juvenile away from the event without the consent of her parent/guardian. It was further discovered that Mejia has been in an ongoing relationship with the juvenile and had been warned multiple times in the past to stay away from her in the past. As a result, Mejia was placed under arrest for Interference with Child Custody.
