Marianna Man Arrested on Drug Charges

On April 14, 2015 at approximately 3:06pm officers with the Marianna Police Department observed Shawnest Ivey operating an ATV on Cedar Street. It was known to officers that Ivey had four active felony arrest warrants out of Jackson County, Florida, Ivey was subsequently stopped on Cedar Street and taken into custody without incident.
During a search of Ivey, officers located a blue, plastic zip lock bag which was found to contain a white substance. The substance was field tested and revealed it was Alpha PVP. This drug is also known as “Flakka” or “Molly”, and is the same drug that has been seen in south and central Florida which is essentially illegal bath salts. Ivey was charged with possession of this drug, which is a felony offense in the state of Florida.
A search of the ATV Ivey was operating revealed approximately eleven grams of synthetic marijuana in a compartment on the ATV. Ivey was also charged with possession of this controlled substance. He was arrested on the above listed charges and transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
