Marianna Man Arrested on Multiple Charges

On 08/14/2015 at approximetly 1500  hour (3:00 pm) Officers with the Marianna Police Department received a phone call in reference to providing agency assistance to an Officer with the Florida Department of Correction, Probation and Parole.  The State Probation Officer was at a residence located at 4052 Old Cottondale Rd. Apartment #304 (Cottondale Village Apartments). Upon officers’ arrival, they were informed by the State Probation Officer of his findings.  The probation officer informed the Police Officers that he was at the residence in reference to an individual on state probation.  It was learned that Di’Quan Quantavious Long was a guest and was temporarily sleeping at this residence.

 Marianna Police Department Officers made contact with the tenant and asked for and were granted permission to search the residence for narcotics and other contraband. Upon a search of the residence officers located several plastic containers with numerous clear zip bags with a white, red, blue rock crystal substance in the bedroom Long was occupying.  Each substance was packaged for sale.  Also located in the plastic containers were several small plastic bags of a green leafy substance which were packaged for sale. Located in close proximity to the narcotics were several clear empty zip bags used for packaging the narcotics. Officers also located a digital scale under a couch cushion in the living room of the apartment.  A random sample of each color of the rock crystal substances was field tested and gave a positive response for the presence of Alpha-PVP, also known as Flakka. The green leafy substance was also field tested and gave a positive response for cannabis. Long was then placed under arrest for possession of the controlled substances. The total packaged weight of the Alpha-PVP (Flakka) is 190.9 grams (6.67 oz) and the total weight of packaged cannabis is 54.7 grams.

Di’Quan Quantavious Long was then transported to Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance. 

This investigation is still ongoing and the Marianna Police Department would like to thank the Department of Corrections Probation and Parole for their assistance during this investigation.

The Marianna Police Department also wants to make the public aware that Alpha-PVP is a very dangerous drug and to be aware of the signs and symptoms.  Alpha-PVP has numerous street names; Flakka, Gravel, and $5 Insanity, are a few given to this highly addictive drug.  It can be found in a multitude of colors and when observed it appears to look like small crystals or shards of glass. In our area this drug is being sold as “Molly” (a derivative of MDMA) and therefore a higher price can be obtained. When the user takes this drug they can hallucinate, become paranoid and agitated, and have violent behaviors towards others. The body temperature of the user can also increase drastically causing damage to internal organs leading the death.  Should any observe this drug or those who may be under the influence of this drug, please do not approach the subjects, but rather contact your local law enforcement agency.

Arrestee: Di’Quan Quantavious Long   20YOA

Charges:  Possession of Alpha-PVP with intent to sell within 1000 ft. of a Worship Center, Possession of Cannabis with intent to sell within 1000 ft. of a Public Housing Facility, Violation of State Probation.
