On October 17th, 2014 at approximately 7:16pm officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the report of a vehicle rollover in the area of Orange Street and Lafayette Street. Upon arrival officers found a vehicle overturned in a ditch located on Orange Street, north of the railroad tracks. A further investigation determined that a 2000 Oldsmobile passenger vehicle being operated by Janea Williamson from Marianna, Florida, was travelling south on Orange Street.
Witnesses to the crash stated the vehicle accelerated and abruptly took a sharp left turn crossing into the opposite lane of travel. The vehicle then struck a guardrail causing the vehicle to become airborne. The vehicle then flipped and landed on its roof in a ditch located just off the roadway. Williamson was removed from the vehicle by other motorist. Williamson was transported by Jackson County Fire and Rescue to Jackson Hospital where she was treated and released with only minor injuries.
Williamson was charged in the crash for failing to maintain a single lane of travel and driving while license suspended (unknowingly).
