Marianna Man Charged in Burglary and Petit TheftMatt Boster

On 04/14/2014 at approximately 2:00 AM, Officers of the Marianna Police Department were dispatched to the A&S Food Mart located at 4255 South Street. Upon their arrival they observed the front door glass shattered to the business. They entered the business and also found the front glass to a game shattered with coins laying on the floor also located on the floor was a hatchet. Officers were able to view the surveillance video and it depicted a black male wearing an orange t-shirt and dark colored jacket wielding a hatchet. The suspect shattered the front glass with the hatchet and entered the business he then shattered the front glass of a vending machine and according to the business owner the suspect stole cash and coins. The suspect then fled the scene leaving the hatchet on the ground the responding Officer identified the suspect as possibly being Rodney Bernard Moultry but needed Investigators to take a closer look at the video and evidence.
On this same date at approximately 3:00 PM, Rodney Moultry came to the Marianna Police Department in an attempt to clear his name of the crime. During the interview Moultry was presented with the evidence and ultimately gave a full confession of the crime. Moultry was arrested and booked into the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.

Charge: Burglary of an Unoccupied Dwelling Petit Theift Criminal Mischief (more than $200 less than $1000)
