On 11/22/2013 Officers with the Marianna Police Department conducted a traffic stop on a black Mazda passenger car on Albert St. for several traffic offenses. During the traffic stop the male passenger was asked for identification which he stated he did not have but identified himself as Marrell Hunter. The occupants were asked to exit the vehicle so that the police K9 could be deployed which they did. While checking Hunter for weapons he told officers that he had some ”weed” in his jacket pocket. As officer attempted to place Hunter in handcuffs he became physically resistant and pushed off of officers and attempted to flee the scene. Officers deployed a taser and after a brief struggle Hunter was taken into custody. Officers then conducted a search of the vehicle and found a small amount of marijuana near a car seat where Martinez’s 3 year old child was sitting at the time of the traffic stop. Hunter was taken to JCCF to await first appearance. Martinez was given a notice to appear for her charge.
