On July 13th, 2012 at approximately 9:53 p.m., officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the Dollar General located at 4154 Lafayette St. in reference to an Armed Robbery. Once on scene officers discovered that an unidentified black male approx. 5’05” slender build approached a customer leaving the Dollar store as she approached her vehicle. The suspect then pointed a small caliber handgun at the victim’s head and demanded the victim’s purse and cell phone. The suspect was described as wearing a white tank top, dark colored shorts and a black and white bandana which portrayed a lower jaw skeleton on it. The suspect was last seen running eastbound through the plaza. Both A.C.I. and J.C.I. dog teams were called to the scene in an attempt to track the suspect. A scent trail was picked up in the lot and ended at a location where the Officers had received a report that just prior to the call coming in, a light colored vehicle was observed leaving the plaza at a high rate of speed heading north. Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call the Marianna Police Department or Crime Stoppers at (850)-526-5000.
