Marianna Traffic Crash

On 08-06-2012, at approx. 06:30am, Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to Old Cottondale Rd., West of Penn Ave. In ref. to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. Upon arrival, it was learned that a Freddie D. Speights, of Marianna, had been walking Eastbound on Old Cottondale Rd. in the middle of the roadway. An Eastbound vehicle driven by Erica Speights, also of Marianna, struck Speights, with the left front portion of her vehicle, causing him to roll onto the hood and windshield.
Marianna Fire Rescue and Jackson County Fire Rescue responded to the scene, and Speights was transported to Bay Medical Center with serious injuries.
As of this press release, Freddie Speights was listed in serious but stable condition.
This investigation is ongoing at this point, charges may be pending once it is complete.
