On April 24th, 2014 at approximately 4:15pm, Officers with the Marianna Police Department were on routine patrol when they came in contact with a tan in color, Lincoln passenger vehicle. Contact was made with this vehicle at the entrance gate which leads into the Chipola River Greenway, located at 2652 Highway 73 South, Marianna, Florida. The Chipola River Greenway was closed at this time due to the high water levels of the Chipola River.
While officers were speaking with the driver of the vehicle, the driver was identified as Joncy Hall. After it was determined that Hall didn’t have any active wants or warrants, consent to search the vehicle from Hall was obtained. During the search officers located a partially smoked marijuana cigarette in the rear passenger’s side floorboard. A further search of the vehicle didn’t result in any other findings.
Officer then made contact with Hall so a search of her purse could be conducted. During the search of the purse officers located a red zipper pouch. Inside the pouch officers located a small, round makeup container which was found to contain three round yellow pills. The pills were identified as Clonazepam which are a Schedule 4 narcotic. Also located in the red pouch was a blue straw which contained a white residue. The residue was found to be that of methamphetamine.
After the completion of the search officers began examining a piece of cardboard with a clear, plastic covering which was retrieved out of Hall’s right front pocket. Officers found that the piece of cardboard contained a white substance which was tested and found to be methamphetamine.
Hall was arrested and charged with Possession of a Controlled Substance (Methamphetamine), Possession of a Controlled Substance (Clonazepam), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Hall was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance on the above mentioned charges.
