Marianna Woman Charged with Child Abuse

On March 16, 2013 approximately 2351 hours Officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to 2922 Albert Street Apartment A in reference to the complaint of loud music. Officers attempted to make contact with the tenant of the apartment who was seated just inside the door on a couch. While speaking with the tenant, later identified as Michelle Annette Campbell, Officers stated she appeared to be incoherent and slurred senseless comments towards Officers. Campbell attempted to slam the door shut from the couch, but was unsuccessful. Officers were also able to see a young infant inside the home in the brief moments they attempted to speak with Campbell. Due to the alcoholic beverage bottles on the front porch Officers believed Campbell to possibly be under the influence of alcohol.
Officers continued attempting to identify Campbell who at one point had trouble walking across the room and appeared unstable as she collapsed into a chair. While, Officers checked on the welfare of Campbell they discovered another young child in the home, belonging to Campbell, who advised Officers her mother grabbed her leaving marks on her and causing physical pain.
Campbell was placed under arrest and charged with Child Abuse. Campbell was transported to the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
