Stacee and Mark Miller are originally from Dothan. Their six year old daughter was born with heart problems that led to needing a heart transplant. Many of you have been praying faithfully for Mary Beth, Stacee, Mark and Macon all of her life and especially the last six months. Mary Beth has been at UAB where she received a heart transplant on November 23, 2011. Hanaleigh is the precious young girl from North Carolina who lost her life in a tragic shooting event along with several other members of her family. Our prayers have also been for her family. The two families have been in touch with each other and many new friends of Hanaleigh’s family have also joined in prayer for Mary Beth’s recovery.
There have been some complications but through all of this, Mark and Stacee have known that God was in control and taking care of all of them. This is the story of the journey of the last week as Mary Beth made her way home with Mark, Stacee and Bubba.
Several lives were saved though organ donations from some of these victims. I urge each of you if you are not already a organ donor, pray about it and let your family know that is what you want in case of a tragedy in your life.
The following are the most recent updates from Mark and Stacee as they began their journey home. They are now living in Birmingham.
Well...it looks like we have a plan, we will be checking out of UAB on Tuesday morning and checking into Children’s for the G-Tube placement, we will have to stay there for 3 or 4 days then we get to go home!!!! So happy about getting to go home so that our family will finally be together again after 6 months. So glad that we will get to see Daddy (Mark) when he gets home from work everyday and we... will get to see Bubba (Macon) after school. Please continue to pray for Mary Beth, she is still having movements, but we are seeing some improvements from the meds. We will miss our UAB family so much, we love them and I could not have gotten thru the last 6 months without everyone of them. I love you W5N nurses and CICU nurses so much, thank you for what you have meant to our family and for Mary Beth’s live, you will never be forgotten, just remember you are not getting rid of us we will still be back for biopsy!!! Love you all!!!
Well looks like today is the day!!! We should be going home!!! The G Tube placement went well and Mary Beth is on full feeds now with no problems. We are so happy that we will all be together again after 6 very long months!!! Please continue to pray for Mary Beth and our family as we still have a long road ahead of us, but we believe we will get thru this!! Thank you all for continuing to remember our sweet little girl and our family!!! We Love You All!
Sorry to everyone that i have not been on FB alot lately. TODAY IS THE BIG DAY!!! They are telling us that we can come home today, it will prob be late this afternoon. i will send a update as soon as we are on the way home. Love you guys.
Mary Beth is in the van and we are on the way HOME!!!!!
We are HOME!!!! Not in Dothan, but at least we are together and no one is coming in checking BP’s, Temp’s, O2’s, and not having to have blood draws or x-rays tonight. YEAAAA. Now here is the medical up dates: 1) Heart wise we are GREAT! No rejection and Hana’s gift is working perfectly. MB’s cardio Docs are thrilled. 2) Now on to the Chorea. It is still there. She can not talk, walk, sit up, feed herself or hold her head up. We are taking this next week off from any Doctor visit just so we can relax. Then the really hard work begins and our back are against the wall. THey have told us that with chorea we only have 12 to 18 months to make major improvements and after that...well you get the picture. 3) MB is going to have major expenses for all this rehab, but GOD got us this far.
From Us to All of YOU, First off we love you guys. Each of you in your own way have been a rock for us. We have felt each and every prayer that were prayed for our family and Mary Beth. We would have NEVER been able to make it through this without you. I will never be able to thank you guys enough for everything you have done. I have been praying for my Father to tell me what i can do for each of you. We Love You!
I bet i know someone that is dancing in Heaven right now. SHE is the reason we are going home and SHE IS THE REASON MB GETTING A CHANCE AT LIFE!! We Love You Hana!!!! Mary Beth and Hanaleigh became "Heart Sisters" on November 23, 2011.
