August: The Spiritual Enrichment Center of Dothan will host Mayor Schmitz ‘s Camino Trail experience on Friday, September 16th, at 6pm in the main Sanctuary. The slide presentation will delineate his walk and all the trail has taught him about life. What is the Camino Trail, you ask?
The Camino de Santiago, also known as pilgrim’s way, is a traditional event that is taken as a form of spiritual path/retreat for one’s spiritual growth. The Camino provides an epic setting to gain a deeper understanding of self, as well as other people one meets along the Way. The Camino’s walkers tend to be a wonderful cross-section of people from all over the world.
Much of the Camino snakes through picturesque Spanish countryside that is so deeply enjoyable when seen, heard, and smelled at a walking pace. It has been reported that there’s something natural and wonderful that happens when one’s purpose for the day involves nothing more than strapping your backpack on and walking. Time slows down. What’s really important in life has space to arise. As a bonus, it is reported that despite the blisters and sunburn, this walk will be the single most rewarding experience ever.
A good time is bound to be experienced by all, please plan to attend this event and enjoy learning about this amazing walk that has the power to transform one’s life as experienced by our Mayor!!
