HOUSTON COUNTY: Recent ads attack incumbent Senator Harri Anne Smith. The ads are from the Melinda McClendon campaign.
McClendon, hand chosen to run by Bob Riley and Mike Hubbard. Both of which are under investigation by a Grand Jury for using their office for personal gain.
Two men are sitting in rocking chairs talking about Senator Smith. One of the two men does not even live in the senate district of Smith.
McClendon’s campaign is being funded in large part by Riley and Hubbard. Their actions over the past, and as evidenced by the Lee County Grand Jury investigation, is their concern is over their power and wealth. Not in what is in the best interest of the State of Alabama.
With McClendon’s negative ads, it is apparent that her poll numbers are low. And from what I have been told by Montgomery sources, they are very low. Riley and Hubbard, no matter how they have tried, have been unable to get McClendon’s poll numbers up.
When a candidate begins the negative ads, that means they are way behind.
McClendon was a temporary Dothan City Commissioner for a special election. She then sought Houston County Commissioner when Commissioner Phil Forrestor passed away. McClendon filled the unexpired term of Commissioner Forrester.
She was approached, as we understand, by Senate Pro tem Del Marsh to seek election as Senator. Marsh, Hubbard and Riley are pushing efforts to control Alabama Government. So far, it appears they have been successful, well in apparently pushing revenue to their benefit.
After being approached, McClendon has jumped ship from what the voters trusted her in as Houston County Commissioner, to that of running for Alabama Senate.
More negative ads will be aired between now and November. The Hubbard – Riley tactics will be to paint Senator Smith in a total negative light in hopes Riley and Hubbard can gain more self centered control over Alabama government.
By the way, if you do not believe me, look at the campaign disclosure forms on file with the Alabama Secretary of State. The first donations to McClendon campaign – from Bob Riley PAC.
