Dear Citizens of Geneva County,
My name is David Hall, and I am honored to introduce myself as your candidate for the 2014 Geneva County Sheriff’s Election. I am a lifelong resident of Geneva County. In 1990, I started my law enforcement career as a dispatcher at the Slocomb Police Department; in 1992, I was employed as a police officer with the Slocomb Police Department and was later promoted to the rank of Sergeant. In 1995, I was employed at the Geneva County Sheriff’s Office as a deputy where I was able to serve the citizens of Geneva County. I left the Sheriff’s Office in 2006, when I made the decision to explore an opportunity to gain more law enforcement experience that would be beneficial to my career and my family. In January 2006, I became employed with the State of Alabama as an agent with the Alabama Alcoholic Beverage Control Board. In 2011, I was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and currently employed at this position.
Since announcing my candidacy I have been asked “why would you leave a state job”; and in response, I will declare my love for Geneva County and my vision to provide our county with a secure environment for our future generations. I am ready to come home with a new direction; serving the citizens of Geneva County with compassion, integrity, and respect. I will work with the citizens of Geneva County by helping them, guiding them, mentoring, and celebrating with them.
Community Policing: Policing needs to be an active partnership between the public and key agencies both internally and externally to Geneva County. Effective joint operations are a key factor to the overall success of our county. Together we can develop long-term strategies aimed to discourage crime and increase safety.
Patrol Visibility: I will encourage Deputies visibility throughout our county; not just major highways and streets, but our rural communities and dirt roads. I feel it is important for citizens to see law enforcement officers in their communities and interacting with the citizens/business owners while on patrol. This will offer a proactive rather than a reactive approach to crime.
Training: I will expect our deputies to be the best trained, qualified, and equipped, to ensure citizens are served with professionalism and respect. Increasing the knowledge of your deputies will reduce liability and make the agency operate at a more efficient level.
Budget: The value of money is a key factor in any administrative effort, and especially true for an entity like Geneva County Sheriff’s Department. I will continuously seek ways to improve the department’s financial efficiency; I will be accountable for the department’s expenditures and ensure it delivers the best value to the public.
If elected as your Sheriff, I will work diligently with the highest level of compassion and integrity for you, the citizens of Geneva County.
