DeFuniak Springs Police received a sweet token of gratitude today from some students at Walton Middle School. Mrs. West’s class wanted to do something to show their appreciation for law enforcement and decided to make “A Survival Kit” for each Officer.

Each bag was filled with different pieces of candy to symbolize the message they wanted to tell Officers. Bags contained everything from Lifesavers to Laffy Taffy, with a typed note on each bag explaining the meaning for each piece of candy. “It is heartwarming that our young men and women would go out of their way to do something nice for us.

Their gesture is very appreciated by our Officers, especially with all of the tension going on in our country,” said Chief Mark Weeks.
