As a result of the officers investigation he developed reasonable suspicion that there was narcotics in the vehicle along with six occupants.
Further investigation revealed a clandestine lab used for the unlawful manufacturing of methamphetamine. Also recovered were several grams of finished methamphetamine along with several bottles containing methamphetamine oil.
Arrested for one count each of Unlawful Manufacturing of a Controlled Substance First Degree (Class A Felony) and one count each of Trafficking in “Illegal Drugs” (Class A Felony):

Rusty Mertes W/M age 22 Bonifay, FL
All six subjects were taken to the Houston County jail where they will be held pending a $175,000.00 Bond on each charge.
The Ashford Police Department was assisted in this case by the Dothan City Police Department and the Houston County Sheriff’s Office.
I would like to thank the Narcotics Investigator from the Houston County Sheriff’s Office for the professional work and time that he put into this case. His training and the devotion to his job was that of a truly professional police officer.
