Motor Vehicle Crash in Marianna

On 10-21-2014, at approx. 5:10pm, officers with the Marianna Police Department responded to the intersection of Heald St. and Lafayette St. in reference to a traffic crash with injury and entrapment. Upon arrival, emergency personnel were already on the scene attending to the injured. It was learned that a white 2012 Ford Edge, driven by Mrs. Edna Williams of Marianna was traveling on Heald St. and had stopped at the Lafayette St. intersection. Mrs. Williams then proceeded to make a left turn onto Lafayette Street pulling into the path of Mr. Ross Anthony Adams, who was traveling West on Lafayette St. in the inside lane of traffic, driving a 2004 Blue Ford Explorer. This caused Ross to strike Mrs. Williams’ vehicle on the driver’s side door. Both vehicles came to rest on the South side of the roadway in an open field. Mrs. Williams was transported to South East Alabama Medical Center in Dothan, Alabama by Air Heart with serious injuries. The passenger in Mrs. Williams’ vehicle, Mr. Hubert Williams, was also transported by ambulance to South East Alabama Medical Center with serious injuries. The other driver, Mr. Ross Adams, was transported via ambulance to South East Alabama Medical Center with serious, but non-life threatening injuries. The crash is still under investigation.

Assisting at the scene were deputies with the Jackson County Sheriff’s Department, as well as members of Marianna Fire & Rescue, and Jackson County Fire & Rescue.
