Motor Vehicle Crash Leaves One Dead in Holmes County

A vehicle driven by Crystal Williams and was traveling south on County Road 33 in Alabama. The Alabama Highway Patrol was attempting to stop the vehicle and then began an active pursuit of vehicle. The driver continued to flee south bound and into Florida while being pursued by Alabama Highway Patrol.
When the Alabama Troopers entered Florida they terminated the pursuit. The vehicle continued into Florida at a high rate of speed on County Road 179A. The vehicle traveled several miles and, entered into a slight right curve, and failed to negotiate the curve. The vehicle entered onto the east shoulder and began to rotate.
The vehicle continued to rotate off the roadway until the vehicle began to roll several times and collided with a power pole with its roof. The driver was ejected from the vehicle. Alabama Highway Patrol Troopers learned of a crash on County Road 179A and came to investigate and found it to be the same vehicle.
The driver and passenger were transported to Wiregrass Hospital in Alabama. The passenger Amber Leigh Kendrick was pronounced deceased at Wiregrass Hospital by hospital staff. The driver was treated and released and was taken into custody by Alabama Highway Patrol for Fleeing and Eluding and other charges. The
Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the traffic crash and charges are pending.
