Mr. Joseph Lamar Smith - Bondsman With A - Advantage Bonding Passes Away

DOTHAN:      On Monday morning when Dylon Quattlebaum reported to work at A - Advantage Bonding he found bondsman Joe Smith on the floor and unresponsive.


Dylon checked Joe and called 911. Dothan Fire. Pilcher Ambulance and Dothan Police responded immediately and began CPR.


After working as hard as they could, Joe was transported to SAMC where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Fred Pich.


Joe has been a bondsman with both Thompson Bonding, G and I Bonding and A - Advantage Bonding over the years. He was a kind and gentle man, always going the extra mile to help someone.


Joe worked in the freight business over the years and as security at Houston County Community Corrections. His wife is Nancy and they resided in Headland.



OBITUARY FOR JOSEPH LAMAR SMITH



Mr. Joseph Lamar Smith of Headland passed away Monday, September 26, 2016. He was 54.


Funeral services will be held at 2 P.M. Friday, September 30, 2016 at the Ward Wilson Funeral Home Chapel with Reverends Ricky Plummer and Eric O’ Bryan officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Ward Wilson Funeral Home directing.


The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 to 8 P.M. Thursday, September 29, 2016. Flowers will be accepted.


Mr. Smith was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. He was baptized a Lutheran. He loved Alabama Football and spoiling his granddaughter, nieces and nephews.


He is preceded in death by his father Charles Joseph Smith.


Survivors include his wife Nancy Smith, mother “Kitty” Carpenter, step-daughters Melissa Windham, Stacie Nave, Courtney Austin, son Chris Smith, step-sons Matthew Hodges (Leah), Cameron Richey, sisters Tammy O’Bryan (Eric), Kim Smith (Donnie), Kathy Mathis (Clinton), brother Clay Carpenter, grandchildren Sarah, Terry and Zoe,  aunt Patsy Redcay (Reuben), friend Tony Saliba, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.


Honorary pallbearers will be Clay Carpenter, Donnie Smith, Clinton Mathis, and Eric O’Bryan.
