OKALOOSA COUNTY, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - UPDATE: February 5, 4:00 a.m. A couple involved in a multi-state crime spree has been stopped after getting into a shootout with police in Santa Rosa County overnight.


According to the U.S. Marshalls Service, around 1:30 Friday morning, 30-year-old Blake Fitzgerald was killed, and his girlfriend, 30-year-old Brittany Harper, was injured and is now in the hospital.


They were wanted on multiple charges spanning three states, including kidnapping, burglary, and theft.


This is the same couple the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office believes robbed the Alvin's Island in Destin at gunpoint Wednesday.


No law enforcement officers were injured.
