ASHFORD:     This past Saturday and Sunday I had the occasion to visit Watermark Church in Ashford.

On Saturday evening when I exited my vehicle and approached the church I was greeted by church deacons all dressed in blue pull over shirts. All had the Watermark Church logo and the name of the church on the shirts. I was greeted by very friendly people and guided into the appropriate place within the church facility.

Watermark Church was originally First Baptist Church of Ashford. Several years ago they built an impressive new church campus on Highway 84 East in Ashford. When I saw the campus as passing, I realized this was a place that was prime for growth and many opportunities.

The church made a major change some time ago. They changed the name from First Baptist Church of Ashford to Watermark Church. While I have not spoken to the pastor about this change, my assumption is the change was with intentions of meeting the spiritual needs of a broad spectrum of people.

On Saturday I had the chance for a brief introduction to the pastor. He was a super nice man.

When I returned on Sunday I was equally impressed. As I entered the campus you were met with church members parking people. While there for a sad occasion of a funeral, the church membership was there in force in making sure the family and guests were comfortable, served, led to the proper places and informed.

Because I did not arrive early and the main worship center was filled, I was in the overflow room. While the service was viewed through TV, you felt much a part of the service. The sound and visual quality was excellent.

The service was an uplifting service of praise and worship. One that Chris Efurd would have wanted. His oldest son joined the praise team in leading the worship message in song, “It Is Well With My Soul”. The wife, children and family were the first to stand in honor through song and praise of the Heavenly Father.

Watermark Church

If I was looking for a very exciting place to serve and worship, I would be at Watermark Church. I am happy in my church, Memphis Baptist Church. First on my list afterwards would be Watermark.

One thing I learned is WaterMark small group. This group is the life hub of WaterMark Church. It is not the old Sunday School you think of. It is not just a class but a group that meets and becomes friends.

WATERMARK LIVE meets on Sunday at 9:30 AM and 11:00 AM. This is the original venue with full worship band and live teaching in the main sanctuary.

WATERMARK TRADITIONAL VENUE – Meets Sunday at 9 AM. A mix of classic hymns, southern gospel and old favorites. This venue has a live message.

REFUGE STUDENT MINISTRY – meets  on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 PM.

WATERMARK Church has venues for all ages. During my visit and conversations, you will be uplifted and excited about the worship experience.

Visit their web site by clicking here.

To the WaterMark Church Family – thanks for your honor to Chris Efurd and his family. Thanks for your work in enlarging the Kingdom of God.
