The concept of the National Night Out began in the 1980’s in an effort to heighten awareness and strengthen participation in local anti-crime efforts. The founder of the program believed that a high-impact type of crime prevention event was needed nationally and so began National Night Out, America’s Night out against Crime.
Over a year ago, on August 3, 2013 the citizen’s of Dothan, Alabama joined in this national effort to promote police-community partnerships, crime prevention and neighborhood camaraderie. Our community proudly joined over 30 million people to represent the spirit of our community and determination of our citizens to make our neighborhoods safer places throughout the year.
This year The Dothan Police Department once again join forces with other local law enforcement agencies, Dothan Fire Department, United States Military and many other organizations to promote crime and drug prevention throughout the City and all surrounding areas for the 31st Annual National Night Out.
