KINSEY: Kinsey Alabama has been without a police chief for the past several weeks due to the abrupt retirement of the Chief, Keith Whitehead.
Mayor Jason Renault appointed Cpl. Quinton Vann as Acting Chief of Kinsey Police Department until a Chief was named. The deadline for applications was 5 PM today for persons interested in applying for Chief.
According to Mayor Renault they will intervew the applicants and in two weeks make the final decision of who will serve as the next Police Chief. We will get the names and see who all applied for the position of Chief and post. As we understand not many applied for the post.
Until recently, Kinsey was the second largest municipality in Houston County. Dothan was the first and Kinsey was the second. The 2010 census knocked Kinsey from second place to third place, with Taylor now being the second largest city in Houston County.
Kinsey is a small department. They work in conjunction with Houston County Sheriff Department and have kept the community quiet and safe for years. At the helm of the protection has been Chief Whitehead and Cpl. Vann have been the steady hand at keeping the community peaceful. Kinsey Mayor Jason Renault has worked over the years with the police department iin helping to maintain a quiet community.
Being the Chief of Police in a small town is not an easy job. You have to balance of lot of hats, and be available a lot of hours.
