HOUSTON COUNTY: Former Attorney Deborah Seagle Jordan was found not guilty of theft by a Houston County jury on Tuesday.
With all Twentieth Judicial Circuit Court Judges recusing themselves, Coffee - Pike County Circuit Court Judge Thomas Head presided over the two day trial.
Deborah practiced law for 25 years in Dothan. She was married to former Dothan City Commissioner Keith Seagle. She became friends with and hired Irby Jordan of Cottonwood.
Later left Seagle and married Irby Jordan. He became manager of her law practice.
Then came her problems and issues.
A client claimed Deborah owed her $ 25,000.00. Dothan Police investigated and executed a search warrant on her office and Irby Jordan's home in Cottonwood.
Deborah was arrested for theft and Irby was arrested for interfering.
Deborah was represented by Christopher Williams and prosecuted by Banks Smith.
After presentation of the evidence, the Houston County Jury found her not guilty.
In The Dothan Eagle Banks Smith is making excuses of Deborah should have done. However Banks could not win the case so he must not really know what she should have done. Plus it is easy for Banks to say what someone should do, but he draws a government salary and not in the real world of attempting to make a living.
