OCSO Arrests Man Wanted for Brutal Attack and Rape in Mississippi

Investigators with the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Section today arrested a Mississippi man wanted in connection with the brutal beating and rape of a single mother September 10th in Ocean Springs Mississippi. 24-year old Cameron May of Biloxi was taken into custody shortly before noon in the parking lot of the Goodwill Store at 747 Harbor Boulevard in Destin. May is wanted on an active warrant out of Ocean Springs on a charge of aggravated assault.
Mississippi investigators say May attacked an office worker at an apartment complex, beating her in the head, breaking her jaw in several places, and sexually assaulting her before making his escape. Members of the Ocean Springs Police Department notified the OCSO this morning that they believed May was in the south Okaloosa area. OCSO investigators began a search, spotting May sitting in his vehicle, a white Chevy SUV, outside the Destin Goodwill store.
He was taken into custody without incident and will be transported to the Okaloosa County Jail in Crestview. The apartment complex where the woman was attacked had offered a $10,000 reward for information leading to May’s arrest.
