A 10-year old Niceville girl says a man tried to coerce her and a friend into a van on two separate occasions within the past couple months in the Blue Pine Village Subdivision in Niceville. One of the girl’s parents learned about a suspicious vehicle while speaking with a neighbor yesterday and later learned that his daughter had been in contact with the man in the vehicle. He immediately contacted law enforcement.

The girl told deputies that sometime in March during the early afternoon she and her friend were playing near Blue Pine Lane and Meadowbrook Court when a white van pulled up, a male got out and grabbed their wrists and attempted to pull them towards the van. The girls were able to get away and ran inside one of their residences. When the girls looked out the window they saw the same man looking in the window.

The second incident occurred approximately a week or two ago when she and another friend were playing in the same location. She says the white van stopped and the man opened the driver’s side door and asked the girls if they wanted ice cream. The girls told him no and then he demanded they get in the van but the girls were able to get home on their bikes.
According to the girls, the suspect is described as a 35-45 year old white male with dark brown or black hair that came to the middle of his ears and scruffy facial hair.

He had a slim build, hairy arms and had a tattoo on his right forearm, possibly a snake on a sword or pole with all black ink. He was wearing a white, sleeveless shirt, blue jeans with holes in the knees and flip flops. He may have also had on a long, silver necklace. The white van was described as a Chevrolet Astro Van with gold stripes.

Anyone with information on the attempted kidnapping is asked to call the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office at 850-651-7400 or contact Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.
