LEE COUNTY: The court system records were just checked...the last motion filed in the case Luther Strange ( State of Alabama ) verses Mike Hubbard ( Alabama Speaker of the House ) was done on May 20, 2016. That motion was the defense withdrawal of a subpoena .
No more court actions filed since May 20.
Set for kickoff, Luther Strange's folks will challenge Mike Hubbard's folks. At stake, the political future of Luther Strange and the political future of Mike Hubbard.
Strange's people have issued subpoena's for Alabama's political heavy weights to travel to Lee County Alabama and get on the witness stand. How Luther's bulldog handles them can decide on Luther's political future.
On the other hand, Mike Hubbard will work to show just the opposite of Luther.
Hubbard is charged with 23 counts of ethic violations. That he prostituted the office of Alabama Speaker of the House in order for him to make money personally.
Luther will be working to see if he can convict the Speaker of the House. And most cases where Luther has been challenged he has lost. ( Barry Moore and Bobby Snellgrove ).
While Hubbard faces prison, Luther faces the reality that he was not worth a flip as a lobbyist lawyer, and now we will see if his staff will be worth a flip as prosecutor.
Will be interesting.
John Taylor will be on hand for both AM 1450 and RSN covering the trial. Stay tuned.
