PANAMA CITY BEACH, Fla. (WJHG/WECP) - Shootings in two locations right around the corner from each other involving local police have left a suspect dead.

It happened late Tuesday night. According to Panama City Beach Police, authorities received a call about a suspicious person at 79 West Apartments on Highway 79 about 11 p.m.

When police arrived, they say the suspect "got hostile." Shots were exchanged between the suspect and two Panama City Beach Police officers.

Police followed the suspect to a nearby Winn Dixie parking lot where more shots were fired.

According to witnesses the man took off and kicked over the fence of a family member before trying to break-in to their house via the back door. An officer shot the suspect, which stopped the break-in.
