A taxi cab driver who thought she was picking up a fare in Fort Walton Beach instead was met by a man who opened the cab’s passenger side door, pointed a gun at her face, and demanded money.
The Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office was collecting evidence and interviewing the victim early
this morning after being called to a report of an armed robbery on Spencer Drive.
The taxi driver said she got a call to pick up a person on that road around 5 a.m. Once she parked there, a man came from behind her Ford van, opened the passenger door, and pointed a gun at her.
He ran off after getting a very minimal amount of cash. She quickly drove to a nearby convenience store to report the crime.
The robber is described as a black male wearing blue jeans, a dark blue hoodie with the hood up, and a bandana over his face.
Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call the OCSO at 850-651-7400 or contact
Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS, emeraldcoastcrimestoppers.com or by texting
TIP214 “plus your message” to CRIMES (274637).
