This morning members of the Hodgesville Fire Department were hard at work getting the newest addition to the department ready for service. According to Fire Chief Todd McNeil; this has been a long time coming. The department is replacing a 1980 ford fire truck with a 2012 International (KME) class A Pumper. The new truck will help the fire department to better serve it’s residents of around 1500 families. The new truck was designed and ordered at the beginning of last year and was delivered by KME on this pasted Wednesday.
The old pumper was an opened cab truck with a side mount pump panel, the new truck is a four door closed cab truck with a top mount pump panel. With the closed cab it is safer for firefighters and keeps them from being exposed to the elements while responding to fire calls.
