The barrel of a gun is not something anyone would want to wake up to, but that was the case for one man living just blocks away from the police department. "I had dozed off and fell asleep, and by then, I heard somebody holler like, get up and give me the money, so when I raised up, there were two dudes with a gun and one with a hunting knife," said the robbery victim, who didn't want to be identified. Ozark police received a call around 5 p.m. yesterday about a robbery taking place at a home on Walton Drive. "The other information given was three black males, two had ski masks, and one was not masked, after further leads and some physical evidence found at the scene," said Ozark Police Chief Marlos Walker. Authorities searched for the vehicle and later found the three suspects: Xavier Thomas, 20, of Brundidge, and two 17-year-olds, one also from Brundidge and the other from Ozark. All of them were arrested and charged with Robbery 1st and Possession of Marijuana 2nd. "The victim and other witnesses in the area were able to give us enough information to get on the tracks and find these individuals," Walker said. Police and the homeowner said the suspects stole hundreds of dollars. It's something happening all too often, and more so when juveniles have too much time on their hands. "Over the past several years, we have seen an influx near summer time, because juvenile crime does go way up with them being out of school," said Walker, adding the victims aren't the only ones in danger in these situations.
