Panama City man arrested for unauthorized data access

PANAMA CITY, Fla. – Agents with the Florida Department of Law Enforcement along with officers from the Florida State University Police Department today arrested James Wangle, 48, 1271 Capri Drive, Panama City, Florida on two counts of unauthorized access to computer systems.  He was an information technology support assistant at Florida State University Panama City.


 


FDLE began its investigation earlier this month at the request of the FSUPD.  The investigation shows Wangle intentionally accessed a university email account without authorization. FDLE and FSUPD served a search warrant today at Wangle’s residence.  His employment with the university was terminated.


 


Wangle was booked into the Bay County Jail.  The State Attorney’s Office, 14th Judicial Circuit, will prosecute this case.
