Attorney Jim Parkman held a press conference in Montgomery a short time ago to question the motives of Alabama Gambling Task Force Leader John Tyson and Governor Bob Riley.
Parkman stated that Tyson took $100,000 as a political donation/contribution for his 2006 campaign for Attorney General from Victoryland owner Milton McGregor. According to Parkman, Tyson told McGregor at the time that he believed that McGregor's operation was legal.
Parkman further stated that if he didn't believe what McGregor was doing then why did he accept the money.
In addition, Parkman said that he wanted to address two issues. He wants to present his evidence to a jury and see what they truly believe. He then challenged Tyson to meet him in ten to thirteen days at the Houston County Courthouse to try the case before Geneva/Dale Circuit Judge PB McLaughlin.
Parkman went on to say that someone needed to present the information surrounding gambling to someone in Los Angeles because it would make an excellent reality show.
Parkman has stated that he has filed paperwork to have an immediate hearing. "There is no reason to drag this thing out," said Parkman.
He has also indicated that there are 1500 employees out of work in Houston County and the county has set up a relief fund to help the workers who are currently out of place.
