According to WDHN: Same sex marriage licenses still not being issued in Houston County. Although, many would agree same sex marriage is upon us. Many ceremonies already being performed in parts of Alabama.
While the legal experts battle the issue, Pastor Tom Anderson said it's not about the courts it's about the Bible and God's Commandments.
“If I went to a store today and gave them a $20 bill and bought something and all of a sudden I had a three dollar bill I would know that wasn't right because there's no three dollar bills and they couldn't convince me that was money, because I know that's not money. So, I know what they're calling marriage is not marriage."
Pastor Anderson, without question, is a strong voice of Christian values. He opposes alcohol sales, gambling, prostitution and same sex marriage. But Anderson's conservative beliefs aren't swaying everyone.
“Marriage should be a union between two people who love each other and want to share their lives together,” said Chris Countrymen who recently applied for a marriage license with his same sex partner. “It's not something that's defined in a religious theology book or even a law book it should be about love bottom line."
Anderson would argue nowhere in the Bible does it condone two people of the same sex getting married.
"I know this much- don't call it marriage, don't call it marriage because it's not. That's not the definition of marriage,” said Anderson. “For over 6,000 years marriage has been marriage and I'll say this openly if a liberal supreme court says differently they're wrong."
While Pastor Anderson will stick to his biblical guns he likely knows what's about to happen in his own backyard.
