Person On Motorcycle Before District Court Judge

HOUSTON COUNTY:    Houston County District Court Judge Benjamin Lewis held first appearance this morning. One person that was before the Judge was the defendant who was alleged to have fled from Florida to Alabama on the motorcycle on Sunday.

The defendant is identified as 22 year old Seifullah Saafir of Fitzgerald Georgia. The defendant identified himself as a student at Moorehouse College In Atlanta Georgia. Saafir told Judge Lewis he was studying to be a Chiropractor.

Saafir is in the Houston County Jail for the charges of Possession of Marijuana in the first degree, a $ 15,000.00 bond, Attempt To Eldue a $ 6,000.00 bond and Possession of Drug Paraphenelia under a $ 6,000.00 bond. Saafir has holds in Jackson County Florida and possibly holds in Bay County and Panama City Florida.

Saafir is reported to have had in his possession about 64 individually wrapped bags of Marijuana, baggies for drugs, and scales.

Judge Lewis advised the Saafir of this rights. Reporting no income because he was a student Saafir asked for a court appointed attorney. Judge Lewis appointed Attorney Ben Freeman to represent  him in court. If indicted on the felony he is assigned to Judge Mendheim.

At this time Saafir remains in the Houston County Jail.
