Geneva County, AL: Residents in the Piney Grove area are suffering a water shortage. Residents are having to get deeper wells drilled to get water again. Some are worried about their fellow nieghbors... Home owners say that some people in the community can't just fork out $6,500.00 for a new well to be drilled. Samson City Officials are in contact with several state and county offices on this issue. Samson City Officials are planning to write an Emergency Water Grant through the State of Alabama to receive funds to extend city water to these Piney Grove Residents. The project could cost anywhere between $600,000.00 to $800,000.00 to construct this project. If the City of Samson does get this grant, it could take up to 8 months before the project could be completed, and right now, the community is saying time is running out. The community is holding a meeting about the issue tomorrow night, Thursday, August 2, 2012 at 6:30 P.M. at the Piney Grove Baptist Church. Officials will be at the meeting to listen in on the ctizens concerns. Officials plan to conduct an investigation into what is causing the shortage of the water. We will be Live Streaming this meeting tomorrow night starting at 6:30 P.M. CST.
