DOTHAN: While in the shower this morning the bathroom lights went off. I peaked to make sure no family member turned the lights off, which they did not. It was th City of Dothan.
My first thought...was the bill paid? Yes...not due yet.
I quickly finisihed my shower because I am on well water so I knew there was not much time left for me to have water. I then reported to Dothan Utilities. Shortly thereafter I heard Dothan Fire dispatched to the old GE Plant on Hodgesville Road and Inez Road in reference to the fire alarm. Dothan Officers were in the intersections of Hodgesville Road and Saunders Road, Saunders Road at Highway 231, Highway 231 and Inez Road, Inez Road and Hodgesville Road.
The fire alarm was most likely due to the losss of power.
At 7:55 AM Dothan Officers began reporting traffic lights back on so the power is being restored.
The men and women of Dothan Utilities work hard. Often times we do not think of them until w flip the switch and NOTHING. All times of the night and during all types of weather the men and women of Dothan Utilities are the ones hanging on the poles or in the bucket trucks connecting our power.
In the middle of the night when structure fires are dispatched, normally Dothan Utilities are called and respond swiftly to cut the power to the burning residence in order to make it safe for the fireman.
