WETUMPKA, AL (WSFA) -A "precautionary lockdown" at Wetumpka Middle School will remain in effect for some time Friday, possibly hours, though authorities are unable to discuss what specifically prompted the situation.
At this hour there are multiple police officers from the city, county, and state at the school.
School leaders say there is no intruder, despite rumors circulating on social media. All students and faculty are safe, though no one is being allowed to check out at this time.
That has not stopped more than 40 parents from coming to the school seeking answers to their questions.
