On 06-20-14 at approximately 2:17 a.m. the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office received a call from Walmart management in reference to suspicious

person inside the store.

The individual loaded almost $600 worth of merchandise into a buggy and approached the exit without paying. Once he realized he was being watched, he abandoned the buggy, obtained another one, and began filling it with merchandise.

Due to the fact that he never passed the point of sale, no crime was committed and he was released. He advised officers that his wife was coming to pick him up. During the course of the investigation deputies learned that he was a convicted felon and that his license had been  suspended since 1996.

A short time later another deputy observed the subject, Clarence Glisson, driving a vehicle and he was subsequently stopped based on that knowledge. A .22 caliber rifle was observed in plain sight in the front passenger seat of the vehicle. The rifle was loaded and had a round in the chamber.

Glisson claimed that the weapon did not belong to him. However, no one else was in the vehicle at the time of the stop. In addition, while officers were attempting to locate a serial number on the weapon they removed the butt plate and discovered the initials “C G” carved in the wood in two places.

Glisson was arrested and lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.
