On July 3rd, 2014 the Dothan Police Department responded to the 400 block of Mona Drive in reference to a firearm assault.

Upon arrival, officers found a white female, shot multiple times but alert and conscious, outside of an apartment. The victim advised the officers her assailant was her ex-boyfriend Michael Bailey and that he fled the scene in a green Ford Crown Victoria passenger car. Officer’s quickly gathered information and found that Bailey lived in Ozark, Alabama. The information obtained was broadcasted to surrounding law enforcement agencies when a Midland City police officer spotted Bailey’s vehicle. Bailey was stopped after a short vehicle pursuit on Highway 27 in Dale County, Alabama and was taken into custody. Investigators say Bailey and the victim were in a volatile relationship that the victim was trying to separate herself from. Bailey located the victim at a friend’s home and forcefully entered that apartment, before pulling her outside where she was shot.

The victim was taken to a local hospital where she has been listed in serious condition. Bailey has been arrested and charged with Attempted Murder. His arrest now brings this case to a close.

The Dothan Police Department would like to thank the Alabama Department of Public Safety and the Midland City Police Department for their assistance in the location and apprehension of Bailey.

  • Michael Desha Bailey, black male, 25 years of age, of Ozark, Alabama was arrested and charged with first degree Burglary and Attempted Murder. Bond amounts have been set and total $1,000.000.00.

All persons arrested are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
