Press Release on This Mornings Fire- Victims Identified

At approximately 2:08 AM, the Dothan Communications Center received a 911 call reporting a structure fire in the 2500 block of Webb Road. Initial dispatch information advised that an elderly couple was possibly still inside the home. Units arrived on scene to find heavy fire conditions throughout the structure, including a collapse of the entire roof. Firefighters immediately began attacking the fire and within 15 minutes were able to enter the structure in order to begin a search. Unfortunately, there were two victims located within the home. Firefighters were eventually able to bring the incident under control. The structure is a total loss.
Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams has not released the name of the deceased at this time. Chief Williams added, “Our thoughts are with this family during this very difficult time.” Williams continued, “This is tragic for this family, our Department and our entire City.” Investigators from the Dothan Fire Department continue to investigate the cause of the fire.

Dothan Fire Chief Larry Williams has released the names of the early morning fatalities in a Dothan house fire. The victims are identified as 85-year-old Arvol Starling and 84-year-old Merle Starling of 2512 Webb Road. The cause of the fire is currently listed by investigators as undetermined however, NO foul play is suspected. The investigation into the exact cause of origin will remain ongoing.
