DOTHAN: In Rome they take old buildings and make then look GOOD.
Heck, in Abbeville, the yellow man has taken old buildings and made them look good.
In Dothan, we take old buildings and put the wrecking ball to them. Destroy history – we don’t care.
Take the old Dothan City Jail. A wrecking ball destroyed that history.
WAIT…look at the old Houston County Jail next to the Houston County Courthouse. That history was preserved and made the headquarters for the Houston County Sheriff Department.
HOUSTON LOVE MEMORIAL LIBRARY
Two libraries were built in Dothan. But the Houston – Love Memorial Library Board wants to destroy what the books inside detail…HISTORY.
The Board has voted to put the wrecking ball to the old library. Rather to preserve the building and retain the rich history the building has, the board wants to destroy that history.
Dothan needs to STOP the demolition and preserve the history.
People come to Dothan to look at murals. What do the murals depict? HISTORY for pete’s sakes! Being downtown, we see people walking and looking at the historic murals. The Dothan Visitor’s Center advertises the murals which depict history.
Why not protect our history and protect the buildings making them a landmark icon?
