Rape 1st Degree and Rape 2nd Degree

 Sheriff LeRoy Upshaw announced the arrest of Jonathan Michael McKenzie w/m 24 yoa of 791 Co. Rd. 15 Clio, AL on Saturday August 08, 2009 and charged with one count of Rape 1st Degree and one count of Rape 2ND Degree.  

Sgt.David Morris, Investigator with the Sheriff's Office who was assigned the case along with Deputy Tracy Reese was contacted by the Dale County Sheriff's Office in reference to a 21 year old female and a 14 year old female who lives in Ariton, AL that had been sexually assaulted in Barbour County.  

An investigation revealed that the 21 year old had been raped while at McKenzie's residence and the 14 year old had been raped at McKenzie's residence two days later.  

Sgt. Morris stated that Investigators spent Friday night and Saturday investigating the case and collecting evidence from the hospital and residence before McKenzie was taken into custody and arrested.  

Sheriff Upshaw would like to thank Sheriff Wally Olson and Investigator Harvey Mathis from the Dale County Sheriff's Office, Chad Wright with the Southeast Alabama Child Advocacy Center and Dale County DHR for their assistance in the case.  

McKenzie is currently incarcerated in the Barbour County Jail with bonds totaling $60,000.00
